Hey everyone! I am delighted you are visiting my website! My name is Brad Slepicka and I am currently enrolled in the middle years program at the University of Regina! As a student in education, my time at the U of R has provided me with a number of experiences that have allowed me to develop as a teacher. I was able to work along side several experienced teachers in the field. This took place in grades two, three, six, seven and eight. Through the education program, I also took on the opportunities to be an ESL tutor and a homework help tutor. These were great experiences because I was able to get a great taste for teaching!
Apart from my experiences as a student, I have been able to take a look at what it is like to be a teacher in other ways. For several years, I have been able to teach in a variety of settings as a dance instructor and a music teacher. I would have to say that my musicality is a gift that I am fortunate to have.
I have also had the privilege to be a summer tutor/inclusion worker with a boy who has autism for the past several summers. This has allowed me to see the importance of building relationships with students. It has also caused me to be more flexible and adaptable as a teacher. During this time, I was not only responsible for my student with autism but also for the other fifteen children that were in the same daycare setting. I must say that this responsibility is one that has really excited me about my choice to be an educator. I look forward to opportunities where I can learn even more about inclusive education!
